3.17. OEI/Balked Landing with 100ft/30.5m Obstacle
OEI LANDING PROCEDURE
Obstacle Height = 100ft/30.5m
From Table 11-3.4, LDP HAT = 200ft/61.0m and Required ground distance from
far edge of helipad = 600ft/182.9m
Establishe 6
°
sight picture and plan a normal approach to arrive at LDP at
35 KIAS.
If engine failure indication occurs after LDP, perform OEI landing.
BALKED LANDING PROCEDURE
Obstacle Height = 100ft/30.5m
From Table 11-3.4, LDP HAT = 200ft/61.0m and required ground distance from
far edge of the helipad = 600ft/182.9m
The pilot establishes a 6
°
sight picture and plans a normal approach to arrive
at LDP at 35 KIAS.
If engine failure indication occurs prior to LDP, the pilot accelerates to V
TOSS
and increases power to the 2.5 minute OEI limit.
Climbs at V
TOSS
40 and 45 KIAS to 300ft/91.4m above the ground.
At 300ft/91.4m (Ref. Table 11-3.3), the pilot accelerates to V
Y
.
