3.16. OEI/Balked Landing with 30ft/9.1m Obstacle
OEI LANDING PROCEDURE:
Example: Obstacle Height = 30ft/9.1M
From Table 11-3.4, LDP HAT = 130ft/39.6m
From Table
11-3.4, Required ground distance from far edge of helipad =
390ft/118.9m.
Establishe 6
°
sight picture and plan a normal approach to arrive at LDP at
35 KIAS.
If engine failure indication occurs after LDP, perform OEI landing.
BALKED LANDING PROCEDURE:
Example: Obstacle Height = 30ft/9.1M
From Table 11-3.4, LDP HAT = 130ft/39.6m
From Table
11-3.4, Required ground distance from far edge of helipad =
390ft//118.9m.
Establishe 6
°
sight picture and plan a normal approach to arrive at LDP at
35 KIAS.
If engine failure indication occurs prior to LDP, accelerate to V
TOSS
and increase
power to the 2.5 minute OEI limit.
Climb at V
TOSS
40 - 45 KIAS to 230ft/70.1m AGL.
At 230ft/70.1m (Ref Table 11-3.3), accelerate to V
Y
.
