Battery Care
Storage type batteries require periodical maintenance to perform at their peak and extend their service life. The
following is an outline of how to gain the best performance and lifecycle from the battery fitted in your RV:
Always use a quality charger that caters to the voltage requirements of a LiFePO4 battery.
Never leave your battery stored at low voltage. Before storing your RV ensure that the battery is fully charged, or
at least 50% charge, and all power is disconnected/switched off.
Always ensure that, when in storage, the voltage does not drop below 50% charge.
When possible, leave the battery connected to a smart charger that will cycle and maintain the battery during
storage. Such as the factory fitted, 7-stage charger. If this isn’t possible check and charge at regular intervals to
prevent excessive discharge.
Never connect unregulated solar power directly to your batteries.
For further information regarding your lithium battery, refer to the website
Lithium (LiFePO4) Battery Reset
The battery installed in this Caravan or Camper Trailer is equipped with an internal battery management system
(BMS) to protect the battery from conditions such as overcharge, over-discharge, and short circuits.
In the event, the internal BMS is triggered (e.g., the battery goes flat), the 12V system will shut down for a short
period and the PROJECTA display may show no voltage. To reset and recharge the battery, follow these steps:
(A) VOLTAGE DISPLAYED ON PROJECTA SCREEN:
1.
Turn off all loads.
2.
Connect your Caravan or Camper Trailer to 240V (AC) mains power and switch it on – this will start the
Battery Charger.
3.
Confirm BULK CHARGE light is displayed on the screen; and
4.
Charge battery for at least one hour before turning DC loads back on.
(B) 0.0V OR NO VOLTAGE DISPLAYED ON PROJECTA SCREEN*:
1.
Turn off all loads.
2.
Connect your Caravan or Camper Trailer to 240V (AC) mains power and switch it on – this will start the
Battery Charger.
3.
Press the POWER SUPPLY button on the PROJECTA display.
4.
Once a voltage reading (e.g., 11.4 V) is present, press the CHARGE button on the PROJECTA display.
5.
Confirm BULK CHARGE light is displayed on the screen; and
6.
Charge battery for at least one hour before turning DC loads back on.
*
After 10 – 15 minutes with no DC loads applied, the BMS inside the battery may disengage, and a voltage reading
will appear on the PROJECTA display. In this case, follow the steps outlined in the procedure (A)
