MD8000 Multimedia Transport System

Normally Inband communication packets reach both SWCNT boards, but with the aid of an
extended capability Inband packets can be limited to reach either one of the SWCNT boards.
Required versions of hardware and firmware for the noted boards are as follows:
Even with the aid of the extended capability, a multi port Trunk board may deliver packets to
both SWCNT boards. In order to prevent it, a transmission filter of an intended port can be
used to reject the delivery to either one of SWCNT boards.
The SWCNT boards cannot reject arrived packets.

with relatively newer hardware and firmware support the extended capability.
Other boards, or older version of hardware or firmware, do not support this single
SWCNT use.

1. The Inband communication cannot use any other ports than Port 1 when the
Trunk board has more than one port. When Port 1 is divided into more than one
logical path, only Path 1 can be used by the Inband communication.
2. For the single SWCNT use Inband communication under the redundant SWCNT
configuration, mutually different VLAN IDs need to be assigned to the SWCNT
boards. If the same VLAN IDs are assigned, packets may not be properly
segregated between the two SWCNT boards.
