CENTRE OF GRAVITY
•
Please be aware of the factors listed below which may have an impact on
the centre of gravity. Failure to observer these points may cause the Shuttle
Discovery to tip over and injure the user.
•
Do not exceed the Shuttle Discovery maximum load weight of 55 kg (121 lb).
•
Take extra care when using the Shuttle Discovery on a slope or when negotiating
obstacles. Always keep the seat and backrest upright when using on a slope.
•
Be observant and mindful of your surroundings, as sudden impact with
obstacles may tip the Shuttle Discovery over.
•
Never park the Shuttle Discovery on a slope.
•
Do not hang bags on the push handle. Use the basket under the seat.
•
Do not let children play with or hang / stand on the Shuttle Discovery or other
indoor bases.
•
Do not let the user rise up from the seat or reach / lean left or right to reach
for an object.
•
Do not stand on the footplate or allow the user to transfer unaided to the
Shuttle Discovery.
DISCOVERY COMPONENTS & ACCESSORIES
•
Ensure the user always wears a correctly fitted and adjusted pelvic strap and
shoulder harness.
•
The caregiver must know how to fit, adjust and release the buckles and clips on
pelvic belts, harness and jackets.
•
Do not stand on the footrest.
•
Always ensure that the back of the Discovery Seat is held to provide additional
security and control when adjusting the backrest angle or when using the tilt
in space feature.
•
Ensure castors are always locked when the Shuttle Discovery is stationary.
•
When using the pelvic strap or jacket, ensure the position of the harness is
anatomically correct. Ensure the pad is not impeding on the throat.
•
Small parts if loose will be a potential hazard for small children.
MAINTENANCE
•
Shuttle Discovery requires regular maintenance by the caregiver. Daily basic
check-ups must be performed before each use. A thorough six-month check
of the Shuttle Discovery must be performed by the caregiver or authorised
Medifab distributor. Only original spare parts should be used for repair.
