WARNINGS
1. After transferring the user into any of the bases, check all
the positioning straps fit the user snugly.
2. Always keep your Shuttle Discovery System clean. If you
have been to the beach, completely clean the Shuttle
Discovery afterwards to remove the sand and salt from the
mechanisms and wheels.
Maintenance
The frequency of the six-monthly check is only a minimum and should be adjusted
depending on the environment in which the equipment is used. We recommend
you maintain a record of check by filling in the product log form at the end of this
manual.
Discovery Seat
1. Check the 5 point harness / 4 point pelvic strap / 2 point pelvic strap / chest
harness are securely fitted to the seat and functioning correctly.
2. Check the backrest, thoracic, pelvic, footplate, headrest, abduction and
adduction supports are secure and tight.
3. Check the backrest angle is secure and tight.
4. Check the tilt in space mechanism is working smoothly and the seat feels
secure.
5. Check the tilt in space release lever is operating the tilt in space mechanism
correctly. Pay particular attention to the cable tension, to ensure this is not too
tight so that it can tilt without operating the tilt lever.
6. Check the seat mounting, backrest angle and tilt in space safety plungers are
all secure and locking.
7. Replace any missing or worn fasteners / adjusting levers and knobs.
8. Inspect the backrest and footplate pivot points. Ensure the fasteners are not
loose.
9. Inspect the two pivot brackets under the seat, ensure the fasteners are not
loose.
10. Inspect the seat depth adjustment screws under the seat padding, ensure the
fasteners are tight.
11. Check all the straps for fraying and missing or broken buckles.
12. Check all the upholstery for wear and tear.
13. Check the seat framework for wear and tear, splinters or breaks.
14. Check the overall structure of the Discovery Seat for any signs of fatigue or
damage.
Maintenance: Six-monthly Checks
Lunar Base
•
Check the Discovery Seat is securely mounted on the Lunar Base.
•
Check each of the four legs to ensure they are secure and level.
•
Check the frame for wear and tear, splinters or breaks.
