1.  When in use, keep the unit in an upright position.

2.  The user should be in a relaxed comfortable position.

3.  As directed by the physician or licensed therapist, either use the

mouthpiece or an appropriate user mask to deliver the mist for

  proper treatment.

    A. When using the mouthpiece, place it between the teeth and

close the lips comfortably around mouthpiece.

    B. When using the adult mask, assure that it fits securely on the

face so the mist does not get into the user’s eyes.

    C. When using the child mask, position the mask lightly on the

   user’s

face.

4. To begin the misting process, turn the unit on.

5.  Inhale the drug as prescribed by a physician or respiratory

therapist. Only the medication prescribed by the physician for

aerosol therapy should be used for this device.

    A. The misting will start shortly after turning on the device.

    B.  I nhale slowly through the mouth for three to five seconds.

    C.  Hold for ten seconds and then exhale.

6.  During the inhalation it is important that the device be kept in the

vertical position; this guarantees correct functioning of the device

and maximum effectiveness of the treatment.

7.  As the medication in the jet nebulizer begins to run out, the

gener ated mist will no longer be constant. However, continue the

therapy until the mist has completely dissipated.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

As with the majority of the devices for aerosol treatment, at the end of

the inhalation, a certain amount of the drug (about 0.95ml) will remain

in the jet nebulizer which is perfectly normal. This portion of the drug,

also called residual volume, cannot be nebulized and should be dis-

carded per your local ordinances.
