1. When in use, keep the unit in an upright position.
2. The user should be in a relaxed comfortable position.
3. As directed by the physician or licensed therapist, either use the
mouthpiece or an appropriate user mask to deliver the mist for
proper treatment.
A. When using the mouthpiece, place it between the teeth and
close the lips comfortably around mouthpiece.
B. When using the adult mask, assure that it fits securely on the
face so the mist does not get into the user’s eyes.
C. When using the child mask, position the mask lightly on the
user’s
face.
4. To begin the misting process, turn the unit on.
5. Inhale the drug as prescribed by a physician or respiratory
therapist. Only the medication prescribed by the physician for
aerosol therapy should be used for this device.
A. The misting will start shortly after turning on the device.
B. I nhale slowly through the mouth for three to five seconds.
C. Hold for ten seconds and then exhale.
6. During the inhalation it is important that the device be kept in the
vertical position; this guarantees correct functioning of the device
and maximum effectiveness of the treatment.
7. As the medication in the jet nebulizer begins to run out, the
gener ated mist will no longer be constant. However, continue the
therapy until the mist has completely dissipated.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
As with the majority of the devices for aerosol treatment, at the end of
the inhalation, a certain amount of the drug (about 0.95ml) will remain
in the jet nebulizer which is perfectly normal. This portion of the drug,
also called residual volume, cannot be nebulized and should be dis-
carded per your local ordinances.
