SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Read the Operating Instructions carefully before use.
Save these instructions for future reference.
Because of the way the belt and disc sander works, the rotating parts must always be able to move
without obstruction. Always keep a firm grip on the workpiece and avoid touching the sanding
parts. Support the workpiece as much as possible.
Check that the sanding belt moves as it should do.
Always wear safety glasses when using the machine, especially when sanding metal.
Make sure that all the safety equipment is in place and working properly.
Always check that spanners, keys and adjusting tools have been removed before starting the
machine.
Keep the work area clean. Untidy work areas increase the risk of accidents.
Avoid dangerous working conditions. Never use the machine in wet or damp places. Do not expose
the machine to rain. Make sure the work area is well lit.
Keep children and other unauthorised persons at a safe distance from the work area.
Make the work area childproof by using padlocks and master switches. Remove all
starter keys
Do not force the machine. The machine does the job better and safer when used at the speed for
which it was designed.
Use the right machine. Do not force machines to do work they are not intended to do.
Wear suitable clothing. Never wear loose-fitting garments, gloves, scarves, rings, bracelets or other
jewellery that can get caught in moving parts on the machine. Wear non-slip shoes and use a hair
net if necessary.
Always wear safety glasses and use a face or breathing mask if the work generates a lot of chips
and dust. Note that normal glasses do not provide the same protection as proper safety glasses.
Secure the workpiece with clamps or in a vice, when necessary. This is safer than using your
hands and means you have both hands free to operate the machine.
Keep a firm footing and a proper balance at all times.
Clean and maintain the machine regularly for safe and efficient operation. Follow the instructions
for lubrication and replacement of accessories.
Disconnect the machine from the mains supply before servicing and changing accessories.
Avoid accidental starting. Always make sure the power switch is in the OFF position before starting
the machine.
Use recommended accessories, in accordance with the Operating Instructions. The use of the
wrong accessories increases the risk of personal injury.
Never use the machine to stand on. There is a risk of serious injury if the machine tips over, or if
you come into contact with working equipment.
Check for damaged parts and that all the safety equipment is in place and working properly before
starting the machine. Check the installation and alignment of moving parts.
Damaged parts must be replaced before using the machine.
Feed the workpiece towards the direction of rotation of the equipment.
Never leave the machine unattended when it is in operation. Switch off the machine and wait until it
has completely stopped.
Special safety instructions
Wear safety glasses.
Support the workpiece on a worktable or against the fence.
The gap between the worktable and the sanding disc/belt must not be more than 3 mm.
Keep a firm grip on the workpiece so that it cannot be torn from your hands.
Do not press the workpiece too hard against the belt, this will only damage both the workpiece and
the belt.
Make sure to always switch off and unplug the machine from the mains, and also to remove the
belt, when the machine is not in use to guarantee the safety of children.
Hold the workpiece against the direction of rotation of the belt/disc.
