Manual Surge Test
The Manual Surge Test screen provides a full set of features so you can conduct Surge tests on one or more phases on
your Asset.
1. Before running a test, you should select an Asset to test. When the software loads the Asset information, it will use
the Active Test Configuration to set some test parameters, such as the target voltage (which is displayed in the top
right of the waveform display area.
2. Changes to test parameters can be made by editing the Test Configuration. Click on the Test Configuration icon to
go to the Test Configuration screen to edit the configuration for the currently selected Asset (proper permissions
required).
3. Select the OUTPUT DEVICE from the drop-down list just above the top-right corner of the waveform display graph
to identify the hardware being used to conduct the test (Host in this case).
4. Use the scale controls above the waveform display graph to select specific scales for each axis. Most applications
can use Auto Scale, and the waveform will automatically adjust as you slowly increase the applied voltage.
By default, the Surge Scale (Y axis) is set to Auto Scale. As you ramp up the voltage, the display automatically changes
scale to improve waveform view. While the default is auto-scale, you can select a specific scale value if you prefer.
The Time Scale (X axis) is also set to Auto Scale by default; the software determines the common optimal waveform
display and automatically scales the X-axis accordingly. You can manually select specific scales to adjust the amount of
the waveform displayed to meet your needs and preferences.

5. With the test leads properly connected to the asset, press the appropriate LEAD SELECT button on the right side of
the screen to apply test voltage to that test lead (Asset phase).
6. Press and hold the Push to Test (PTT) button (top left of ADX front panel).
7. Using the Voltage Output Ramp switch on the front panel, raise the voltage to the target level. The LEADS
