The heater must be positioned in a special heater room, compatible with a boiler room, and
generally in such a way that the cold air is not taken from fire hazardous rooms. In addition to
a fire damper, the hot air duct must be fitted with an over-pressure grating, which stops
airflow in the direction of the heater.
In such mechanically ventilated rooms where some hot steam and gas occurs and where there
generally is not any handling and technical use of burning fluids, such as garages, service
station halls, and repair shops, the heater can be in the heated room, if it is positioned at least
2 m off the floor and the cold air is not taken from lower than that. The combustion air must
be taken from the outside or from at least 2 m off the floor.
For inspection and maintenance purposes, a ladder and a maintenance platform (if necessary)
must be available, if it is not possible to perform inspections and maintenance works on the
floor level.
If the heater is used in paint shops, the positioning of the heater must be in accordance with
the standard SFS 3358, regardless of its scope of application.
Fixed heater’s flue
The flue of a fixed heater must be in accordance with the rules and regulations regarding
flues.
The flue must be fitted with a cover of such structure that no over-pressure can form in the
flue, and it must be possible to open the cover easily for cleaning the flue, unless the flue can
be cleaned from underneath.
THE FUEL TANKS OF OIL-HEATED DEVICES
The oil tank as well as the suction and return pipe should be in accordance with the oil heating
equipment decree and any regulations based on it.
In equipment covered by the scope of application of this regulation, the following can also be
used as fuel tanks: mobile oil tanks or detachable tanks which can be fitted with a pump. The
tank must be positioned within at least 3 m from the burner. The oil pipes must be metal oil
pipes, or steel-enforced oil pipes, or oil pipes intended for moving oil. When using, the oil
pipes must be attached to the oil tank so that they would not come loose.
INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE
When installing and performing maintenance on these spray oil burner devices, the oil heating
equipment decree is followed, so these devices can only be installed by authorised installation
and maintenance companies.
Maintenance on the oil heating devices of mobile heaters, except adjustment and safety
devices, can be performed by the person responsible for the use of the devices.
