"A U T O -H I" button:
Fast heating or cooling of
vehicle interior.
A ir conditioning, air distribution
and blow er control are the
same as in position "3"
"A U T O -L O ". The blow er, h o w
ever, operates at a higher
speed.

"BI-LEVEL" button:
For fogged-up w indow s.
During heating and cooling
operations air is channelled to
the w indshield and to the fo o t-
well. During the cooling opera
tion air also enters via the
center sw ivelling outlets 8.
The vehicle interior is cooled
practically free o f d raft w ith
more air being blow n into the
fo otw e ll. The blow er then
operates at a higher speed
than "A U T O -L O ".
W e recomm end this position
at lo w am bient temperatures.

"D EF" button :
For iced-up w indow s.
Independent o f the position of
the tem perature selector
wheel air heated to m axim um
tem perature is channelled to
the windshield.
For the side w ind ow s, open
sw ivelling outlets 9.

Refrigerant com pressor sw itch:
S w itching the air conditioning
com pressor on and off.
The compressor can be
sw itched o ff com pletely in the
positions "A U T O -L O " and
"A U T O -H I", e.g. if no cooling
is required because o f low
am bient tem peratures (fuel
econom y).
Fresh air is supplied to the fo o t-
w ell if the refrigerant com pres
sor is sw itched o ff w hile the
system is w orking in the co ol
ing mode.
Fresh air enters the vehicle through
the openings in fro n t o f the w in d
shield (keep free of snow ) and is
em itted through the ventilation
openings below the rear w in d o w if
the side w ind ow s are closed.
Do not cover up ventilation open
ings w ith clothes etc.
Im p o rta n t!
In order to keep the air co n d itio n
ing section o f the climate control
system in good w orking condition
at all times, it is necessary to
operate the A /C compressor
briefly at least once a m onth even
during the seasons it is norm ally not
required. S w itch com pressor
sw itch to "O N " and depress
"A U T O -L O " or "A U T O -H I"
b utton. Make sure th at the am bient
tem perature is above 36° F (2° C)
since the A /C com pressor w ill not
operate below this tem perature.
