Charging phases in normal mode – indicator (12)
The charger has a multistage, fully-automatic
charging cycle.
A. Sulphate handling – indicator (4)
The sulphate handling reactivates batteries with excessive
sulphate content using pulse charging, thus increasing the
utilisability of the battery.
B. Soft-start – indicator (4)
Start phase with limited charging voltage of maximum 10 A.
After reaching a voltage of 12 V, it switches to full load
charging. If this voltage is not reached after a maximum of 4
hours, the charging procedure is discontinued and the error
indicator (3) lights up.
C. Full load charging – indicator (5)
The battery is charged with a maximum of 25 A. After reaching
a specified voltage or after 20 hours, it switches to absorption
charging (indicator 6).
D. Absorption – indicator (6)
Full charging at 14.4 V with step-by-step reduction of the
charging current. After a maximum of 12 hours, it switches to
trickle charge.
E. Analysis – indicator (6)
Test of the spontaneous discharge. If the voltage sinks to 12.6
volt within 2 minutes, the charging procedure is discontinued
and the error indicator (3) lights up.
F. Trickle charge pulse – indicator (7)
If the voltage of the battery sinks to 12.9 volt, a charging pulse
is started until the voltage reaches 14.4 V. In this charging
phase, the battery can remain connected over months. If the
voltage falls below 12.9 V, a new charging cycle is started.
Charging phase "Supply" mode – indicator (13)
G. "Supply" mode – indicator (8)
The battery is maintained at a constant voltage of 13.8 V and
is thus always ready for operation.
Note
In supply mode, the charger can be used in place of the battery.
Charging phase "Recond" mode – indicator (14)
Important
Only batteries which have been removed may be charged
in recond mode (see vehicle Owner's Manual). The vehicle
electronics can otherwise be damaged. The battery fluid
level must be checked regularly and topped up if
necessary as there could otherwise be a loss of fluid in the
battery.
H. "Recond" mode for reactivation of deep-discharged
batteries – indicator (9)
The battery first goes through the charging phases in normal
mode. The battery is then charged with a limited charging
current of 5A but with a voltage of up to 15.9 V for a maximum
of 4 hours. An acid regrouping in the battery occurs which has
a positive effect on the life of the battery. The battery is
subsequently charged again in normal mode.
Note
The indicator (9) only lights up when charging with maximum
voltage (15.9 V).
Duration of the charging procedure
The table shows the length of the charging procedure of an 80%
charge in normal mode.

Risk of injury
In "Supply" mode, the charger does not operate spark-free.
Observe the safety precautions and protective measures when
handling the battery.
