WARNING
Engine components and fluids are hot and can cause serious injury or death. Allow the engine to cool before removing any
components or opening any fluid hoses.
If the coolant temperature fault is not cleared, the warning horn will sound again after a short period. If the warning horn sounds
again, turn the engine off immediately and check the following:
•
The seawater filter is clogged
•
The seawater valve is open
•
Sufficient coolant is present. Check the cooling system for leaks.
•
The ribbed V‑belt of the seawater pump is functional
•
The impeller of the seawater pump is functional. Refer to
Seawater Pump Impeller Inspection
.
Voltmeter Gauge
The voltmeter indicates the voltage in the electrical onboard supply. Normal voltage is between 12 and 16 volts. If the indicated
gauge voltage drops below 12 volts with the engine running, the battery and alternator system should be checked by a Mercury
Diesel authorized repair facility. During starting, the indicated voltage can drop below 8 volts. The voltmeter also has a warning
lamp which illuminates when the ignition is switched on. The lamp should go out after the engine starts.

Warning lamp
If the warning lamp illuminates while the engine is running, check the following:
•
Immediately turn the engine off and check the condition of the ribbed alternator V‑belt
•
If the V‑belt is in good condition, check for loose connections on the alternator
•
If all connections appear to be proper, contact your authorized MerCruiser service center as the problem is likely in the
alternator or alternator regulator
IMPORTANT: Do not operate the engine with the battery disconnected as the alternator will be damaged. Do not operate
the engine with alternator ribbed belt disconnected as the front vibration damper will be damaged.
Engine Oil Pressure
Engine oil pressure is monitored by the engine control unit. If the oil pressure system should experience a fault, an oil pressure
warning icon will appear in the display window of the tachometer.

Oil pressure warning icon
If the engine oil pressure warning icon should illuminate or flicker during operation, proceed as follows:
•
Turn the engine off immediately
•
Check the engine oil level
If the oil warning icon illuminates, a warning horn will also sound at the same time. The warning horn can be switched off with
the confirmation button. If the fault is not corrected, the warning horn will sound again after a short period.
