1.3 Lifting the chassis

Do not attempt to lift the Bugzi

chassis until the seat and battery

unit have been removed.

Always bend your knees and not

your back when lifting heavy

objects. Stand in front of

Bugzi. Bend your knees

and grasp Bugzi by the two

handles keeping your back

straight. Straighten your

knees and lift Bugzi close to

your body.

HAND

LING

SETTING UP

2.0 Preparing for use

• Use only on hard, dry, flat surfaces

• Guard steps higher than 20 mm (3/4”)

• Remove other obstacles

• Maintain a calm atmosphere where possible

2.1 Seating set-up

Correctly specified and adjusted seating is critical

to the successful operation of Bugzi. The CAPS

II Seating System must be set and adjusted by a

qualified therapist or rehabilitation engineer.

2.2 Installing seat

Slide the seat along the interface board aligning the

pegs at the back of the interface with the holes on

the back plate of the seat base. Lower the front of the

seat until it is resting flat on the board, then push it

back as far as it will go until you hear the ‘click’ of the

spring catch

.

2.3 Battery charging

A row of coloured bars

on the controller indicate

the level of charge in the

battery.

When all the green bars

have gone out, it’s time to

charge the battery.

If used frequently it may

be best to charge Bugzi up every night to prevent the

batteries running out during the day. Keeping batteries

well charged will prolong their life.

2.4 Make sure the Bugzi is OFF

1. Unplug the power lead from the battery pack and

connect the charger plug in its place. (2.4a)

2. Plug in charger and switch on the power. (2.4b)

3. It can be safely left connected until needed.

Always disconnect the mains supply before

disconnecting the battery. Don’t forget to

replace Bugzi’s power lead after charging!
