Check that the Nozzle Shell, Screwed Insert, Air Nipple, Mixing Block and Air Motor
are correctly fitted.
Ensure that all necessary ‘O’ Rings are present, in good condition and correctly fitted.
A full listing of ‘O’ Ring part numbers can be found in Section 7.
Use the following procedure to begin using the pistol:
Be sure to leak test the system as per section 1.1.2 before attempting to spray.
Turn on the extraction system.
Ensure that the pilot valve is open.
Open the Drive Rollers.
Pass the wire to be sprayed through the pistol until flush with the air nipple.
Close the Drive Rollers.
Turn on the air, fuel gas and oxygen in the order stated.
Open the pistol valve for a few moments to purge the lines.
Close the pistol valve.
Refer to
Section 8: Information Tables
to establish the correct pressures and
flowmeter readings for the wire size and type.
With the pistol valve open, set the supply pressures in accordance with the table.
Check Flow Meter positions. Adjust
Oxygen
only to trim the system.
Close the pistol valve.
If the pilot light is to be used, press the valve lever inwards and turn clockwise to the
first stop. Release the lever and light the pilot flame. Open the valve in one swift,
smooth movement to the full open position and the pistol will light. Simultaneously
press the wire feed trigger.
NOTE
: When the pistol is alight, the flowmeter floats will change position. This is normal
DO
NOT
try to re-adjust parameters to get the flowmeter floats to
the ‘before lighting’ settings.
Adjust the wire speed until the molten tip of the wire extends for a distance about
equal to three times the wire diameter outside the air nipple.
When spraying 3/16”
(4.76mm) diameter wires with Propane,
this tip length may be increased to 1” (25mm)
for stop start systems and 1 1/2” (38mm) for fast spraying systems.
