STATUTORY REGULA-
TIONS
Observe the applicable laws and traffic
regulations when driving on roads and
never drive without the side parts!
A driving licence is generally not re-
quired for driving an electronic wheel-
chair.
A liability insurance is only mandatory (in
Germany) for a wheelchair with a
speed in excess of 6 km/h but is never-
theless recommendable. The insurance
sign must be fixed to the rear of the ve-
hicle. Securing holes are usually al-
ready available.
In addition to the liability insurance,
wheelchairs with speeds exceeding
6km/h also require (in Germany) a ve-
hicle approval.
The necessary appraisal report will be
supplied to you with the wheelchair.
The application for the vehicle approval
is dependent on the respective vehicle
registration centre.
You usually only need to post the ap-
praisal report to your local vehicle reg-
istration centre in order to apply for the
vehicle approval for your electronic
wheelchair. You will then be sent the
stamped vehicle approval. You must al-
ways have the vehicle approval with
you when driving on public roads.
