YAESU FT-7800/8800/8900
General
The Remoterig system supports the Yaesu FT-7800/8800/8900. The technical solution is the
same as for all the other rigs with detachable control panel. You can remote control the radio
over Internet from the control panel without any PC. We simply replace the cable between the
control panel and the radio with two RRC-1258 units, one at the control panel and one at the
radio. When you push the PWR-ON button an audio and data connection is established
between the units and you control the radio as you do normally with the control panel directly
attached to the radio.
Hardware configuration
The FT-7800/8800/8900 is fully supported by the Remoterig RRC-1258MkIIs from version 3.
Note!
Be aware of that the FT-8800 has a bug which can cause it to enter a kind of “locked” mode
when it loses power, you then need to connect the front panel direct to the radio again to
recover. So we recommend using the FT-8900 or FT-7800 to avoid this situation.
