EXTERNAL LOCKING GLOVE LINK - GLOVE CHANGE INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Using the hex tool provided unscrew the outer clamp.
Step 2: Once the clamp has been removed unscrew the retaining collar using the tool provided

Step 3: Remove the slip washer.
Step 4: Remove the glove support collar.
Step 5: Remove the ‘O’ ring from the glove
Step 6: Insert the glove support collar into the new glove. Push the collar into the glove so that the glove is
stretched around the collar Note The collar MUST be inserted into the glove with the Microchem name
towards the fingers of the glove
Step 7: Locate the ‘O’ ring over the glove and fit into the recess of the support collar. Feed the glove into the cuff,
ensuring the left glove is in the left and the same for the right glove. Make sure that the back of the glove
is central to the back seam of the suit sleeve.
Step 8: The slip collar should now be fitted over the glove and pushed up to the support collar, with the wide rim
against the support collar and glove
Step 9: Slide the glove retaining collar over the glove.
Step 10: Screw the retaining collar clockwise into the cuff, until tight. Make sure the retaining collar is tight
using the tool provided.
Step 11: Locate the safety retaining clamp around the cuff and retaining collar, with the tightening screw at the
back of the glove. Make sure that the clamp is located over the rim of the cuff and that the lugs are
located between the retaining collar grips. Tighten the screw using the tool provided, until both lugs
under the screw are located between the grips, with a 2mm gap.

Gloves should be worn when removing the retaining collar as contamination may not have been completely removed from the collar during decontamination
If gloves are damaged or contaminated during use then they may be changed but only by a properly
trained, competent person. The attachment of non-approved gloves is not allowed and following each
change the suit must be re-tested for leak-tightness in accordance with the instructions provided in this
booklet. A record of all changes and subsequent testing should be maintained on the record card provided
