5.4 Ex protection
The portable instrument myDatalog2Ex designed for use in areas with a zone 1 explosive
atmosphere.
The following conditions must be adhered to:
l
Only the manufacturer is permitted to open the housing to carry out maintenance work, which
must only be completed outside the Ex area.
l
It is permissible to replace the rechargeable battery pack in the Ex area, although it must not
be charged there.
l
The rechargeable battery pack must only be charged outside the Ex area only using the
charging device tested and approved by the manufacturer (see "Charging device" on page
121).
l
The power supply in the Ex area must only be provided by the designated, intrinsically safe
rechargeable battery or battery packs (see "Rechargeable battery and battery packs" on page
121).
l
The USB interface must NOT be used in the Ex area.
l
The SIM card must NOT be replaced in the Ex area.
l
Only the antenna, tested and approved by the manufacturer, with or without an antenna
extension, tested and approved by the manufacturer, may be connected to the antenna
connector (see "Antennas" on page 121).
l
If the device is operated in the Ex area, no external voltages must be connected to the
universal inputs.

Important note: The Ex approval is only valid if the corresponding marking is provided on
the type plate of the measurement device .
Important note: The certificates of conformity and any relevant test certificates from the
respective authorities must be carefully observed during installation and commissioning.
