Chapter 13 Maintenance

Chapter 13 Maintenance

Important note: To prevent any damage to the device, the work described in this section of
the instructions must only be performed by qualified personnel.

The device must be deenergised before any maintenance, cleaning and/or repair work.

13.1 General maintenance

l

Regularly check the myDatasensMINI H2S 1000for mechanical damage.

l

Clean the myDatasensMINI H2S 1000with a soft, moist cloth. Use a mild cleaning agent, if nec-
essary. Attention: Due to the electrostatic effects, the protective armour must not be rubbed
with cloths in the Ex zone.

13.2 Maintenance of the H2S sensor

The H2S sensor of the myDatasensMINI H2S 1000is an electrochemical gas sensor which is used up
over time. It must therefore be recalibrated at regular intervals (at the latest every 6 months). This
can be completed by the customer, for example, using the Calibration set H2S 30ppm (206.810) that
is available as an accessory. The calibration must only be completed by qualified personnel who are
trained to handle H2S calibration gas and who are aware of all of the risks detailed in chapter
"Safety instructions for handling H2S gas " on page 86. Instructions on completing the calibration
are provided in chapter "Calibration process" on page 87.

DANGER:

Extreme caution is required when handling calibration gases!

Hydrogen sulphide is a neurotoxic substance that can cause poisoning and even death
depending on the concentration.

More accurate results than the ones determined using the Calibration set H2S 30ppm (206.810) are
obtained in a specially equipped calibration room (see "Calibration room equipment" on page 87).
If you do not have personnel who are sufficiently trained to handle H2S calibration gas or a suitably
equipped calibration room, you can send the myDatasensMINI H2S 1000to the manufacturer (see
"Contact information" on page 107) or a certified service partner to be calibrated. The original pack-
aging must be used for this purpose.

The maximum service life of the used H2S sensor is 2 years, although, it may be shortened due to
loads during operation. The sensor must only be replaced by the manufacturer (see "Contact infor-
mation" on page 107
) or a certified service partner. The batteries are always replaced at the same
time as the H2S sensor, as this is the only way it can be guaranteed that the existing energy can
cover the max. service life of the newly inserted sensor. The myDatasensMINI H2S 1000must be
returned in its original packaging.

The display of the myDatasensMINI H2S 1000indicates the remaining days until the next calibration
and next service (sensor and battery replacement) (see "Display" on page 36). The counter for the
