1.
Change the appropriate switch settings on the ACU as indicated in Chapter 3.
2.
Add modules as required (for example, when going from non-protected to hot standby,
add all the B radio modules). Refer to Chapter 5 for a matrix of modules in each con-
figuration.
3.
Replace the RF Branching Network as needed.
4.
Add or change cables as shown in Chapter 4, Installation.
To change from non-protected configuration to hot-standby configuration, simply change
the appropriate switch setting(s) on the ACU, add the B radio modules, and replace the
RF Branching Network. Connect the TXU and RXU interconnect cables as shown in
Chapter 4.
To change a hot-standby radio to include space diversity receivers, simply change the
appropriate switch setting(s) on the ACU and replace the RF Branching Network.
Connect the RXU interconnect cables and antenna connections as shown in Chapter 4.
Adding a SCU/WTU/OWU
To upgrade your radio to add Service Channel and/or Orderwire, add the SCU and/or
OWU module(s) and change the appropriate switch setting(s) on the ACU as indicated in
Chapter 3.
NOTE:
Before removing the ACU board, make a note of user-defined configurations such as Tx
power, AIS, date and time, loopbacks, alarm log, and statistics data. Once the ACU board
is removed, some of this information may be altered.
Remember to configure the SCU and OWU to match your installation as described in
Chapter 3. The radio must have an SCU in order to add an OWU.
Add the Wayside Traffic Unit option in the same manner.
Adding a NMU
The optional Network Management Unit (NMU) consists of the NMU board, firmware,
and mounting hardware. The NMU mounts on the ACU board. To add the NMU board to
the radio, perform the following procedure:
1.
Remove the ACU board from the rack to prepare it for NMU installation.
NOTE:
Before removing the ACU board, make a note of user-defined configurations such as Tx
power, AIS, date and time, loopbacks, alarm log, and statistics data. Once the ACU board
is removed some of this information may be altered.
2.
If not in place, install firmware into location U4 on the NMU board.
3.
Using the provided screws, mount the standoffs to the NMU board.
4.
Align the NMU board over connector J4 on the ACU, making sure that the header
matches pin-to-pin. Mount the NMU board to the ACU board.
5.
Set the NMU switches and jumpers according to Chapter 3 and re-seat the ACU.
6.
Using the LMT, reconfigure the ACU with the desired Tx power, AIS, date and time,
loopback, and statistics information. For NMS operation see the
TELESCAN 3000
Manual
, P/N 6885104E95 or the
