This washer disinfector is suitable for
cleaning and disinfecting instruments
and accessories in medical surgeries
and clinics, as well as gynaecology,
urology, ENT, anaesthetic and ortho-
paedic instruments etc.
It is capable of cleaning and thermally
disinfecting instruments to general hy-
giene requirements using the "vario TD
(AN)" programme and for standards re-
quiring the containing of epidemics
(§ 18 IfSG) there is the SPECIAL (AN)
93°C/10’ programme as well as the
combiCHEM 60°C-5’ and CHEM
60°C-5’ programmes for thermal disin-
fection with the addition of a chemical
disinfecting agent.
The disinfection programme chosen will
depend on the area of effectiveness re-
quired (bactericidal and/or virucidal)
and the thermal stabitily of the instru-
ments.
Where possible preference should be
given to thermal disinfection as this pro-
vides a better standard of disinfection.
The parameters for thermal disinfection
in accordance with EN ISO 15883-1 are
80 °C (+ 5 °C, - 0 °C) with a 10 min.
holding time or 90 °C (+ 5 °C, - 0 °C)
with a 5 min. holding time for the inacti-
vation of HBV.
Contaminated instruments can be
placed directly in the machine without
pre-treatment (no soaking required).
In Germany, the parameters for disin-
fection of a temperature of 93 °C, with a
holding time of 10 minutes, correspond-
ing to effective areas A and B, have
been adopted into the official list for
disinfection of instruments in
disinfectors and decontamination units,
according to section 3.2.4. § 18 IfSG by
the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) in Berlin
(German Institute for infectious dis-
eases and non-communicable ill-
nesses).
The effective areas are defined as fol-
lows:
A = suitable for the destruction of vege-
tative bacteria, including myco-bacte-
ria, fungus and fungal spores.
B = suitable for the inactivation of vi-
ruses (including HBV and HIV).
Chemo thermal disinfection takes place
at 60°C with a 5 minute holding time
and 1% concentration of disinfecting
agent. The standard of disinfection is in
accordance with the disinfecting agent
manufacturer’s instructions.
The machine is programmed to carry
out the final rinse with mains water or
AD water (aqua destillata) = purified or
de-ionised water (VE), H
2
O pure, de-
mineralised water, aqua purificata or
distilled water where the application re-
quires this standard.
The washer-disinfector is equipped as
standard with a steam condenser (DK)
and water softener.
