Maintenance and care
Safety procedure in the event of a power
cut:
During a power cut the heater plate must be
released to prevent the item being ironed and
the roller covering from being scorched. Use
the heater plate release mechanism:
■
Step down firmly at the back of the foot
pedal switch. The heater plate is raised.
The ironer is ready to start ironing again when
the supply is restored. If the heater plate does
not move step down firmly on the back of the
foot pedal switch again. If the power supply is
cut off for a long period of time the rocker
switch " 0 " and the temperature selector
should be set to " 0 ".
The ironer generally requires a minimum
of maintenance.
Cleaning the heater plate
■
Switch off the machine before cleaning.
Deposits such as from hard water, starch or
spray starch can be removed from the heater
plate using proprietary cleaners. Some spray
starches however are very difficult to remove.
DO NOT use abrasive cleaning agents. NB.
Many spray starches clog the heater plate.
Only use if specified as suitable for rotary
ironers by the producer. Always clean immedi-
ately to avoid residues baking on.
Replacing the ironing cover
Before removing the ironing cover (for re-
placement or cleaning purposes) the machine
must be switched off at the mains, the plug
withdrawn and the heater plate allowed to
cool. The laundry feed board must be re-
moved and the heater plate raised off the
roller using the safety switch.
A soiled ironing cover can be laundered at
60°C using a proprietary laundry detergent
and then spun.
The ironing cover should be wound back
whilst still damp on to a moving, heated roller
(
●
setting). If the roller padding of steel wool
is replaced or renewed this should only be
carried out by a Customer Service Engineer.
When re-covering the roller the cover should
be between 656 mm and 664 mm wide to
ensure that the whole cylindrical width of the
roller is covered.
The ironing cover cords at the left and right
hand sides of the roller must meet exactly.
Tighten them, tie together and tuck in at the
side under the ironing cover.
The roller covering must be carefully
smoothed out without folds as every fold will
make an impression on the piece being
ironed. The roller is properly covered when it
makes snug contact along the whole of the
heater plate. Put the laundry feed board back
in place.
It is a good idea to keep a spare ironing cover
handy.
