Connecting a printer
The COM1 standard interface, the optional UniCOM universal interface or both can be
used as a printer interface.

Use as a communications interface
The data protocol can be set to the following operating modes for operation as a

Both communication interfaces can be operated independent of each other (e.g. data
transfer and control via a PC using the optional UniCOM interface with simultaneous
printing via the COM1 printer interface). During data communication, each interface can
use a diferent protocol, e.g. COM1 with SMA and UniCom with XBPI.
In SBI operation, an indicator and connected weighing platform can be controlled using
ESC commands from the PC via the communications interface (COM1 or UniCOM) (see
chapter
).
Each device can only be conigured once for two interfaces (COM1 and UniCOM). Device

Analog output
If you attempt to reconigure a device that has already been conigured to another
interface (e.g. WP

2 to COM1) a second time (to UniCOM), the error message [INF 74]
appears.
8.3 Conigure data interface as communication interface (DATPROT)
The interface is set up as a communication interface in the setup menu under COM1 or
UniCOM, "Data protocols" ([DAT.PROT]) (see also Chapter
and Chapter
).

SBI communication
This is a single ASCII interface.
Under menu [SETUP]- [COM-1]- [DAT.PROT]- [SBI]- [DAT.AUSG.], menu item [MAN./AUT]
6.1 and [AUTO.ZYK] 6.3, you can set how the data is output (see also Chapter
):

Manual output of a display value with or without standstill (menu item [MAN./AUT]-
[ENZL.OHN.] 6.1.1 and [MAN./AUT]- [ENZL.NAC.] 6.1.2).

Automatic output of a display value with or without standstill (menu item
[MAN./AUT]- [AUTO.OHN.] 6.1.4 and [MAN./AUT]- [AUTO.MIT.] 6.1.5) depending on a
number of display cycles. The number of display intervals for the output is set under
menu item [AUTO.ZYK] 6.3.
