Printing and cutting tips:
Make sure to print the plans at a scale of 100% and check the scale with your ruler.
When laying out the plans on a sheet of foamboard, check that the grain direction on the plans
aligns with the grain of the foam. Otherwise, the molded pieces will be very difficult to curve!
The grain lines of a 30”x20” sheet of foamboard typically run parallel to the longer edge.
Build tips:
This build requires keen attention to detail but shouldn’t contain any surprises for the seasoned
hobbyist who has built FliteTest-style models that involve molding. Here are some tips:
• Perform dry fits at each step before using glue
• Check for symmetry, alignment and proper angles when dry-fitting
• Take your time when pre-molding the skins
• Reinforce appropriate bamboo skewer holes with cardboard/wood bracing for longevity
• Carefully custom trim/sand any components that don’t fit correctly on the first try
• TAKE YOUR TIME and distribute the build process over several days if possible
