Replacing the chain if it
"pops off"
WARNING:
Whenever removing the pro-
tective chain cover, YOU MUST DISCON-
NECT the battery first. This will ensure
no possibility of the motor or chain run-
ning accidentally while working in this
area. Refer to the section on
"Replacing the battery" in this instruc-
tion manual for this operation.
It is possible that under extreme condi-
tions the chain may pop off. If this
occurs, the motor will run but the rear
wheel will not turn under power.
The chain can be replaced onto it's origi-
nal position by following these
instructions:
IMPORTANT:
Make sure the ignition key
is removed from the key switch. Work on
a work bench or in an area with plenty of
space.
1)
Use a phillips head screwdriver to
remove the supporting screws attached
between the chain cover and the frame
(Fig 27).
2)
Use a phillips head screw driver to
remove the screws and separate the upper
and lower chain
cover pieces
(Fig 28).
3)
Place the chain over the MOTOR gear
first. Use your fingers to keep some
tension on it (Fig 29)
.
4)
Place the chain on the top of the rear
wheel gear about half way around
(Fig 30).
5)
Carefully rotate the wheel so that the
entire chain pops back onto the gear. (Fig
31).
6)
Replace the chain
covers in reverse order.
7)
Replace the supporting screws holding
the chain cover to the frame in reverse
order.
8)
Reconnect the battery and ride as
normal.
