Installing a Code Reader
Points for installation
Distance
When the distance between a code reader and a work is close, the imaging range gets narrower and the target is captured in
the larger size.
When the distance is far, the imaging range gets wider and the target is captured in the smaller size. If the distance is set too
far, codes may not be read. For the appropriate distance, refer to the product overview in Code Reader CF 26 User's Manual.
Installation angle
The installation angle is the most important setting to read direct part marking codes. Especially for works which have high
reflection, installing the code reader by tilting at the angle (10 to 20 degrees) toward codes can reduce reflections and improve
the reading rate.
Direction
For direct part marking, the direction of the code reader may also affect the reading rate.
Especially for a code on a column-shaped work, the direction of the code reader may be limited.
Importance of pre-assessment and tests
Appropriate installation conditions need to be checked by executing pre-assessment and tests to stabilize reading.
