powered subwoofers
WIRING WITH THE RCA JACK INPUTS
The "INPUT" RCA jacks on the back panel of your Subwoofer allow you to directly connect the
Subwoofer to preamp-level components such as surround sound processors, preamplifiers, integrated
amps and receivers with preamp outputs, Electronic High-Pass filters, crossovers, etc.
This will give you better bass quality than using the speaker inputs, because it bypasses your amp
or receiver's amplifier stage. If you don't have a Subwoofer Output available, check to see if you have
preamp outputs on your preamp, amp, or processor to be able to use these inputs. If you have only
one set of preamp outputs, use a Y-connector to feed both the amplifier and the Subwoofer.
To connect the Subwoofer in this way, simply run one or a pair of shielded RCA - RCA interconnect
cables from the output jacks on your component to the "INPUT" jacks on the Subwoofer's backplate.
See Figure 1. It is not necessary to use both input jacks on the subwoofer.
Figure 1 below shows the connection method for a surround processor or receiver. Figure 2 shows
connections for a stereo amp or preamp.
If you are using two subwoofers, use a Y-connector at the back of the amplifier or processor to
split the signal to feed both subwoofers.
