Note:
1. A 2-Way switching installation may not work with a Mechanical 2-Way
Switch, if incorporating an electric powered indicator (e.g. LED or neon)
2. Additional neutral wire is required on certain load types and 2-Way
    switching configurations.
3. The cable length between the two end point products must not exceed
40m, and the minimum cable size of 0.75mm².
4. When an Elements Electronic Dimmer is used as a 2-Way controlling device, both
device must be of the same type. Do not mix different dimmer types i.e. leading
    edge and trailing edge.
5. Not applicable to K34499.

For neutral connection to the Dimmer, refer to the specifications for load types
that require a Neutral connection. If these loads are used without a Neutral
connection, the dimmer and lamp may not operate correctly.
For Mounting Boxes, the minimum depth required is 35mm. When using 2.5mm²
cables the minimum box depth required is 40mm.

Note:
When carrying out insulation resistance testing, first disconnect the product.
Failing to do this could damage the product and could also give spurious
insulation readings.

Note:
Upon attaching new frontplate, the indication on the product may show erratic
operation i.e. rapid flashing. This is normal as the product is adapting the new
frontplate. This process may take up to 20 seconds.

Note:
In a single lamp installation it is recommended to connect neutral to the
electronic dimmer.

Installing the product

Installation & safety instructions

This product must be installed by a competent person (e.g. a qualified electrician) in
accordance with these instructions and the appropriate current national wiring
regulations. (e.g. the IEE Wiring Regulations BS 7671)
While working on any appliance, turn off the mains supply to make sure that
appliance is not live. Before changing a lamp or bulb ensure the electricity supply to
the lamp holder or light fitting is off.
Do not use electric screwdrivers or power tools to tighten the product.
The mains supply to dimmer must be protected by a type ‘B’ or ‘C’ MCB with rating
not higher than 10A.
Before starting the appliance, make sure that all connections are as per the
instructions, the cables are not stressed and the terminals are fully tightened.
To prevent fire hazard, do not exceed the rated load specified for the appliance.
Do not install the appliance in bathrooms, washrooms or any location subjected to
splashes of water, condensation or dampness.

How to install

To ensure safe installation, you must read all the installation & safety instructions
on page-1, and refer to the wiring diagrams on page-4.

Installation

1. Ensure the depth of the back box is correct for the product and that it is fitted
    securely to the wall.
2. Install the cables in the normal way and, using the fixing screws supplied,
mount the product, still minus its frontplate, to the wall. It is important the
correct headed screws are used as any other may clash with the rear of the
    frontplate.
3. Do not over tighten the screws, so as to prevent damage or distortion to the
product or support frame. Adjust so the frame or module sits squarely on the
    wall.
4. Fit the frontplate as shown on page-3.

Refer to these wiring diagrams for 1-Way and 2-Way switching installations.

Elements Leading & Trailing Edge Dimmers can be controlled remotely by a
2-Way Mechanical Switch or an Elements Electronic Dimmer or Switch, if
connected to its control port by the existing 2-Way wiring in the installation.
