INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Folding and unfolding the wheelchair
: To unfold the
wheelchair, open the frame by pulling the armrests, then press
down on the side tubes until you are sure that the wheelchair is
fully unfolded. Before folding the wheelchair, completely
remove the footrests or make sure that they are fixed and in an
upright position. To fold the wheelchair, only lift the centre edge
of the seat upholstery.
Locking the wheels:
Push the brakes forward until they
engage in the locked position. Do not attempt to sit down or
stand up without first activating the brakes. Always activate
both brakes simultaneously.
Adjusting the length of the footrest:
The position of the
footrest (standard-flat or raised) can be adjusted to suit the
length of the user's legs. The footrest must be adjusted to
support the weight of the user's feet and lower legs in a position
to support the weight of the thighs, the lower edge of the
footrest must be at least 7 cm above the ground to allow
sufficient clearance when negotiating ramps or slopes. To do
this, loosen the adjusting screw with a spanner and fold the
foot plates inwards or outwards to achieve the desired position.
Then tighten the screw carefully.
Using the rear support pedals and brakes:
Use one of the
rear support pedals to raise the front wheels, e.g. when
climbing a kerb. To do this, push down on the rear support
pedals with one foot.
Climbing a kerb:
Approach the kerb facing the kerb. The
caregiver should use the rear support pedals to raise the front
wheels and lower them onto the kerb once the kerb has been
raised. Finally, the caregiver should push the wheelchair
forward, raising it slightly to raise the kerb if necessary.
Lowering a kerb:
Place the front wheels in front of the kerb
edge. The caregiver should use the support pedals to raise the
front wheels and tilt the occupant back slightly. While keeping
the wheels up, carefully lower the wheelchair off the kerb.
Warning: When lowering a kerb, the front wheels should be
raised to prevent the occupant from falling off. These are
recommendations only and may not be suitable for all cases.
