The operating system and preloaded programs are stored in Flash ROM. Although this memory is
not available for saving programs and files, it does not use up valuable RAM.
Your WayPoint PDA comes with 64MB of RAM. RAM is used for both storage space and program
memory. Running low on program space can cause some applications to behave sluggishly or not
run at all. For best performance of the WayPoint navigation software always provide 15 to 20 Megs
of free program space. Some additional storage space is available in the Flash Disk. More storage
space can be added by inserting an optional CompactFlash card or SecureDigital card in one of the
expansion slots.
If you receive a low memory warning it is likely that you are low on program memory. You should try
the following:
•
Move files and programs to a CompactFlash or SecureDigital card.
•
Move seldom-used files to your PC.
•
Remove unnecessary programs and delete files from Ram space.
•
Close some applications that are running.
•
Use the Memory control panel to clear memory.
Memory is managed automatically by the operating system. However, you can temporarily adjust
the allocation of storage and program memory. Tap on “
Settings
” on the start menu, select the
System tab, and then tap on the Memory icon to open the Memory Manager. Use the slider control
to adjust the setting.
Close programs that are running by selecting the Running Programs tab in Memory Manager. Tap
“
Remove programs
” at the bottom of the screen to remove programs stored in RAM. Tap “
Find
” to
search for large files that can be removed from memory.
