Effects
The Modal Digital I/O Card features a digital effects section, which contains three fully
controllable FX: Chorus/Flanger, Stereo Echo/Delay, Reverb.
There are 1000 FX presets, and each preset is a combination of the three effects.
The FX main page is accessible either as last option in the Parameters Menu (third button
below the LCD) or, more simply, by clicking the ‘Assign’ button on the right hand side of the
front panel.
In addition to this, the three encoders of the ‘Assign’ section can be used to control the three
Digital Card FX Return values (see below).
You can press and hold the ‘Assign’ button to switch between ‘Alternative Page Controls
Mode’ (‘A’ LED lit up) and ‘FX Controls Mode’ (‘B’ LED lit up).
Main FX Page
1. Preset Name / Number:
in Patch mode, each Patch has a linked FX preset, which is
automatically recalled everytime you load that Patch. You can change the linked FX preset
by loading a different one then saving the Patch. An FX preset contains all the individual
FX settings as well as three Return controls, but not Sends and Dry/Wet (see below)
2. Dry/Wet:
each Patch has standard FX Dry/Wet parameter (0 = fully dry, 64 = equal mix,
127 = fully wet) which controls the global effects mix for the Patch. Please note that this
is a Patch parameter (as opposed to FX parameter)
3. Sends:
each Patch has three Send parameters which control how much of the Patch
sound is sent to the three effects. Please note that these are Patch parameters (as
opposed to FX parameters)
4. Returns:
each FX preset has three Return parameters which control the output level of
each effect line.
Within a certain degree of approximation, the Return controls can be considered as the
amount / level of each effect applied to the original sound: for this reason, they are particularly
important and they can be easily controlled from the front panel thanks to the three encoders
of the ‘Assign’ section - provided that the ‘Assign’ button LED is in ‘B’ mode (press and hold
the button to switch mode).
Please note that these are FX parameters (as opposed to Patch parameters), so their values are
stored within the FX preset.
