j) Function "10:ATS", Automatic Start
This function (ATS = automatic start) is a type of limitation of the servo travel
for the gas/brake servo, so that the vehicle's drive does not slip on slippery
surfaces when the vehicle takes off (the first acceleration!).
After the first acceleration (crossing the start line so to speak) the function will
be deactivated.
• From within the main menu (see fig. 5) press the "ENTER" button, then you
can use the "+" or "-" buttons to select the "10:ATS" function (fig 68).
• Then press the "ENTER" button again to reach the settings menu (fig 69).
• You can now use the "ENTER" button to switch between different settings
(TRI, POS, DLY, MOD).
• The value can be adjusted with the "+" and "-" buttons.
• With the "EXIT" button you can return to the settings menu (see fig. 68), the
automatic function will
not
be activated.
TRI
This is the position of the gas/brake lever where the automatic start will be activated.
As low as possible a value should be set here (e.g. 1-5%) so that even a light acceleration will activate
the preset position ("POS" setting) of the gas/brake servo.
POS
This is the servo position (can be adjusted between: 0%...100%) which the gas/brake servo moves to,
when the gas/brake lever is moved for the very first time (when crossing the starting line so to speak).
This value is to be selected depending on the track. On slippery tracks it could be set to 30% for
example. When you accelerate off for the first time, the gas/brake servo will be activated to the
programmed position ("POS") after a time delay which can also be set ("DLY" setting).
DLY
The time needs to be set, from when the servo actually moves to the preset position ("POS"). So, for
example, you could set it to allow a very short take-off at full acceleration (so that the motor gets up to
high revs) and then the gas/brake servo is dropped back to the preset maximum value ("POS").
At a setting of "0" the gas/brake servo immediately moves to the programmed servo position ("POS");
the higher the set value, the longer this takes.
MOD
This is where the automatic start is activated. Adjust the setting with the "+" and"-" buttons.
"INH" = start function deactivated
"RDY" = start function activated
If the setting is on "RDY" the remote control is "armed". The first movement, the first acceleration (see
figure 1, pos. 5) leads to the settings ("TRI", "POS" and "DLY") being activated. If the remote control
recognises that the control lever position has exceeded "TRI", the display changes to show "RUN" and
the programmed servo position "POS" will be activated after the programmed time delay "DLY".
Then the automatic start is switched off!. Before each start, the function must be reset from "INH" to
"RDY".
