SoftPanels
are
identified
by
the
serial
(COM)
port
to
which
they
are
attached.
USB
SoftPanels
are
identified
by
a
“USB”
prefix,
and
the
SoftPanel’s
serial
number.
Slow
Current
Injection
The
Slow
Current
Injection
section
is
in
the
upper
half
of
the
I
‐
Clamp
tab.
In
current
‐
clamp
mode
you
can
track
a
preset
membrane
potential
by
automatically
injecting
a
slow
current
into
the
headstage.
You
must
enter
both
the
membrane
potential
you
want
to
track,
and
a
time
to
set
the
speed
at
which
current
is
injected
to
follow
that
potential.
Slow
current
injection
cannot
be
enabled
at
the
same
time
as
current
clamp
Holding.
The
speed
at
which
current
is
injected
into
the
cell
depends
on
the
current
injection
resistor
and
load
as
well
as
the
setting
in
the
Time
constant
field.
The
time
constant
values
shown
in
the
glider
are
correct
for
the
HS
‐
9A
×1
headstage
and
the
CLAMP
‐
1U
model
cell.
Current
injection
duration
is
proportional
to
the
resistance
of
the
injection
resistor,
i.e.,
the
higher
the
resistance
of
the
injection
resistor
the
longer
it
takes
to
reach
the
desired
voltage.
On
the
other
hand,
the
current
injection
duration
is
inversely
proportional
to
the
load,
i.e.,
the
higher
the
resistance
of
the
load
the
faster
it
reaches
the
desired
voltage.
For
example,
voltage
‐
tracking
with
this
feature
is
slow
when
the
electrode
is
in
the
bath,
and
fast
when
in
the
cell.
In
summary:
Injection
resistor:
High
resistance—slow
response.
Load:
High
resistance—fast
response.
