MASTER CLOCK
The Master Clock provides a base tempo for the entire Moog One, and is measured in BPM (Beats Per
Minute). The Master Clock provides a reliable tempo that can be shared amongst various Moog One
modules as well as external devices via MIDI and USB. The values of many Moog One parameters are
set using units of time – the Arpeggiator speed, the Sequencer tempo, LFO rates, Envelope times,
Effect times, etc. These parameters can be set individually and expressed as absolute measures of
time, or they can be synchronized to the Moog One Master Clock, and specified as timing divisions of
the current BPM. By default, the Sequencer(s) and the Arpeggiator(s) are sync’d to the Master Clock;
the LFOs and EGs are not. Selecting an external clock source (MIDI, USB, CV, etc.) will override the
Master Clock.
TIP:
One advantage of using Sync is that by changing just the Master Clock Rate, all of the sync’d
parameters will also change, and will remain in step with the Master Clock.
NOTE:
The current tempo is always displayed in the HOME screen.
TEMPO
(0 to 10)
This knob sets the tempo for the Master Clock. Turn the
TEMPO
knob
to the left to slow down the Master Clock; turn the
TEMPO
knob to the
right to speed up the Master Clock. The available range is from 10 BPM
to 280 BPM. The LED above the
TEMPO
knob will flash on each beat to
visually indicate the tempo.
TAP
The
TAP
button allows the tempo value to be set by feel, as opposed
to a number. Tap the
TAP
button a few times at the desired rate to set
the tempo. The tempo is set based on the timing between taps. More
taps at a consistent rate will produce a more accurate tempo setting.
NUDGE
(+ and -)
These buttons are used to perform minor tweaks to the tempo setting in
real time. Their function and operation is set using commands found in
the Master Clock MORE page.
