MASTER CLOCK MORE PAGE
Pressing the triangular
MORE
button in the upper right corner of the Master Clock module opens a
second level of parameters that can be accessed and modified using the interactive portion of the
Center Console. The current tempo is displayed in the center of the screen and can be changed by
rotating the Master Encoder. Turning the Master Encoder in
SHIFT
mode allows for finer adjustments.
NOTE:
Pressing the (now) illuminated More button will exit the MORE
page and recall the HOME screen.
The onscreen MORE page parameters
are edited using the soft rotary encoders
below the screen.
CHANGING THE VALUE
Rotate the Soft Knob below the parameter
name to change its value. In some cases,
the Soft Knob simply turns a function on
or off. In other cases, the Soft Knob may
choose from a list of values or settings,
and in other cases, the Soft Knob is dialing
in a value – either an absolute value or a
percentage.
SWING AMOUNT
(0% to 50% to 100%)
Swing changes the timing relationship between the on-beat and the off-beat. The on-beat is always
strictly aligned to the clock. Adding swing allows the off-beat to come in a touch later and be a bit
shorter, or to come in a bit early and hold a touch longer. Swing beats, shuffles, and other rhythmic
variations can be created this way. Swing is expressed as a percentage measuring how much time the
on-beat occupies, relative to the total duration of an on-beat plus an off-beat.
Below the tempo value is a type of bar graph showing the amount of Swing being applied. In this bar
graph, each white box represents an on-beat, and each grey box represents the complementary off-
beat. As you rotate the Soft Knob to change the amount of Swing, the relationship between these two
boxes will change to indicate how Swing is being applied. In the center position (50%), no swing is
being applied to the beat.
NUDGE MODE
(INCREMENT, BEND)
This parameter determines the behavior of the
+
and
-
buttons on the Front Panel.
INCREMENT
In this mode, each press of the
+
button will slightly increase the Master Clock tempo, and
each press of the
-
button will slightly decrease the tempo of the Master Clock. This is
convenient way to fine tune the tempo setting.
BEND
In this mode, holding the
+
button will momentarily increase the Master Clock tempo by a
small amount until the button is released. Holding the
-
button will momentarily decrease the
Master Clock tempo by a small amount until the button is released. When either button is
released the tempo returns to its original value. Borrowed from the DJ world, this technique is
great for beat matching on the fly.
LOAD PRESET TEMPO
(ON, OFF)
When this parameter is set to On, loading a Preset will also load the tempo that was saved with the
Preset. In this way, calling up a Preset will automatically call up the correct and saved tempo for your
performance. When this parameter is Off, the current tempo will be used.
