Changing Hydraulic Oil
System Drain
1. Place the machine on level ground, and remove the four
mid belly pan bolts using a 9/16 wrench.
2. Place a container below the opening and remove the
pump suction line. .
3. Remove the cap and dipstick (to help vent the tank),
and drain as much fluid as possible.
7. Reinstall the hose and belly pan.
8. Dispose of drained oil according to local regulations.
Hydraulic Cooler Drain
The cooler is equipped with its own drain plug (6) located
on the left rear of the machine.
To drain the cooler remove the dipstick and fill cap to vent
the system and remove the plug using an inverted square
socket. If a square socket is not available a 12mm 12 point
socket can be used.
Note: the drain plug located on the right rear (7) of the
machine is the engine coolant drain.
Hydraulic Filter(s) Change
The Boxer 1800 has two hydraulic filters. One is located in
the tank (10) and the other is on the pump stack.
To change the filter located in the tank:
1. Turn machine off and allow machine to completely cool.
2. Remove the left rear engine panel to expose the top of
the hydraulic tank.
3. Using a 10mm wrench remove the three bolts on the top
of the filter housing, and move filter cover off to the side.
Note: use caution removing the top of the filter housing,
it is spring loaded to keep the filter seated in the base.
4. Locate the wire handle on the top of the filter and pull up
on the filter. It may be necessary to move the filter side to
side or twist the filter to break it loose from the housing.
5. Install new filter and re install cap. When installing the
cap be sure to line up the spring on the filter and the
cap to ensure proper fit.
To change the filter on the pump stack (11):
1. Remove the four bolts on the front belly pan under the
pump stack using a 9/16 wrench.
2. Using a strap type wrench or an oil filter cup wrench
loosen the oil filter and remove.
3. After the oil has drained from the filter housing, apply
a light coat of oil to the seal of the new filter and install
new filter.
Note: Before installing new filter be sure to remove old oil
seal from the filter housing to prevent leeks and damage
to the pumps.
4. Re install the belly pan.
