point socket can be used.
• After coolant is drained, reinstall the plug and fill with
coolant following the coolant specifications page.
• Once the radiator is full, start the machine to purge
air from the system and check level again in both the
radiator and the purge tank.
• Test the new coolant freezing point to ensure proper
performance. New antifreeze freezing point should
test -34 degrees Fahrenheit or -37 degrees Celsius.
See engine manual for further information.
• Check machine for leeks.
Note: dispose of all drained fluids according to local
laws and regulations.
Fuel System
Filter Change
The Boxer 1800 is equipped with a spin on fuel filter (1)
located in the front of the engine compartment under the
operator station.
To change the filter lift up and secure the rubber flap open
to gain access to the filter.
• Clean filter head and sounding areas to keep fuel
system clean.
• Place a small catch pan under the filter to contain
any spilled fuel.
• Using a filter wrench loosen the filter and remove.
• Before installing the new filter, lubricate the sealing
ring with fuel and fill the filter with clean fuel up to
the threads.
• Install the new filter hand tight, and with a wrench
give an additional 1/4 turn.
Note: When the fuel filter has been changed air enters
the fuel system. By pre filling the fuel filter it reduces the
amount of air that enters the system.
When starting the machine for the first time after the fuel
filter change:
• Start the engine
• Set throttle lever at about 1/4 speed
• Let run for 5 minutes to purge the air form the
system.
If the engine stops after restart, start the engine again. If
the engine does not re start it may be necessary to use
the primer pump (2) on the engine located just below the
coolant purge tank.
NOTICE
Do not allow the starter motor to continuously
run for more than 20 seconds. If ran for more
than 20 seconds allow a 10 second cool down
period. Before operating again. Between starter
engagement be sure engine stops to prevent
damage to flywheel and starter..
