16.5 Battery and charging
Battery maintenance is the most important part of scooter maintenance. Keeping the batteries
completely charged contributes to prolonging the battery duration. Follow the instructions
below to help store the batteries in optimal conditions.
WARNING!
New batteries must be completely charged before using your scooter for the first
time. Charge new batteries for 12 hours, even if the battery indicator already shows a
full charge. Basic condition for maximising battery performance.

Keep the batteries completely charged for daily use. It is advisable to connect the external
battery charger after every use and charge for 6-8 hours;
•
If the scooter will never be used for more than one week, charge the batteries completely
and then disconnect them from the scooter.
CHARGING THE BATTERIES
List of charging guidelines to maximise battery duration:
1. Only use the battery charger supplied with your scooter;
2. NEVER use a car battery charger or a wet one;
3. Avoid deep discharges and never allow the batteries to discharge completely;
4.
Do not leave the batteries at low charge for lengthy periods. Charge a discharged battery
as soon as possible;
5. Charge the batteries completely on a regular basis;
6. Store the batteries completely charged;
7. Check the batteries once a month and charge them if necessary.
The battery charger is external. Follow the steps below to charge the batteries.

• Position the scooter near a normal electrical socket on the wall.
• Remove the key to switch off the scooter.
• Rotate the battery charger compartment cover.
• Insert the XLR connector of the battery charger in the battery charger port.
• Insert the other end of the power cable in the wall socket.
• The battery capacity is displayed when charging is complete.

Only disconnect the battery charger cable from the wall socket when the batteries are
completely charged.
Only charge the batteries with the key in the OFF position (switched off).
