16. CHARGING THE WHEELCHAIR
Your Moretti ARDEA Mobility electric wheelchair has two 12v/75Ah rechargeable batteries
and a 25v/8Ampere battery charger. The batteries must be charged before using the
wheelchair for the first time and should be charged after prolonged use. Ensure that the
wheelchair is switched off and that the motor unlocking lever is in position D (DRIVE).
The wheelchair should be charged the first time for at least 14 hours.
Always check the battery charger indicator on the control panel and check how
many LEDs are lit up. It is recommended to charge the batteries when only the
red LEDs are lit up.
1. Insert the battery charger connector into the charging socket underneath the controller.
2. Check that the current selector is on 220V (or the voltage available to you). Insert the
battery charger plug into a wall socket and switch on the battery charger by pressing
the switch to ON.
NOTE:
Do not place the battery charger in a place near a potential fire risk.
3. The battery charger has control lights:
• A light indicating that the battery charger is in operation.
• A set of lights indicating the percentage charge of the wheelchair battery.
4. Wait for the charge percentage LEDs to indicate 100% before disconnecting the power
supply.
5. The battery charger has a limiter that switches it off when the maximum charge is reached.
6. Disconnect the battery charger cable from the electric wheelchair and from the mains
power.
7. If the switch-on light starts flashing on connection, the battery charger is functioning
correctly.
