V. Maintenance and repair
In order to maximize the motorcycles service life and ensure years of trouble free operation, it is
necessary to perform some basic maintenance. This is especially important if the motorcycle will be
stored for a period of time without activity, or has recently been placed back into service after storage.
New motorcycles have an initial break in period, so the first maintenance should be performed after
about one month or 250miles of operation. Subsequent maintenance is recommended every 6 months
or 1,800 miles of operation. If the motorcycle is used in extreme conditions, such as heavy loads,
rough roads or in a dusty/dirty environment, the maintenance should be more frequent.
Doohan recommends returning to the dealer for maintenance. If you have the proper training and
tools, you can perform the maintenance yourself. To avoid injury or damage to the motorcycle, do
not attempt to perform maintenance or repairs yourself if you do not have the required skills.
