The DCP501 has an advanced CATV set-top terminal that allows you to view cable channels.  

The DCP501 must be authorized for cable TV operation by your cable TV operator before it will 
tune channels. 
To use your DCP501 to view cable channels:

Using Cab le  TV  Record 

The DCP501 does not have record capability, but it allows you to watch one source like a DVD 
while recording a cable TV channel on your VCR or PVR. The current listening/viewing source is 
always selected on the DCP501 front panel or with your DCP501 remote control. The factory 
setting is
