GROUND
Table 2-3
Grounds
Ground Name
(# of Pins)
Description
GND
P
PLL Ground
—GND
P
is ground dedicated for PLL use. The connection
should be provided with an extremely low-impedance path to ground.
V
CCP
should be bypassed to GND
P
by a 0.47
µ
F capacitor located as close as
possible to the chip package.
GND
1P
PLL Ground 1
—GND
1P
is ground dedicated for PLL use. The connection
should be provided with an extremely low-impedance path to ground.
GND
Q
(4)
Quiet Ground
—GND
Q
provides isolated ground for the internal
processing logic. This connection must be tied externally to all other chip
ground connections. The user must provide adequate external decoupling
capacitors.
GND
A
(6)
Address Bus Ground
—GND
A
provides isolated ground for sections of the
address bus I/O drivers. This connection must be tied externally to all other
chip ground connections. The user must provide adequate external
decoupling capacitors.
GND
D
(4)
Data Bus Ground
—GND
D
provides isolated ground for sections of the
data bus I/O drivers. This connection must be tied externally to all other
chip ground connections. The user must provide adequate external
decoupling capacitors.
GND
N
(2)
Bus Control Ground
—GND
N
provides isolated ground for the bus control
I/O drivers. This connection must be tied externally to all other chip
ground connections. The user must provide adequate external decoupling
capacitors. There are two GND
N
connections.
GND
H
(6)
Host Ground
—GND
H
provides isolated ground for the HI32 I/O drivers.
This connection must be tied externally to all other chip ground
connections. The user must provide adequate external decoupling
capacitors.
GND
S
(2)
ESSI, SCI, and Timer Ground
—GND
S
provides isolated ground for the
ESSI, SCI, and timer I/O drivers. This connection must be tied externally to
all other chip ground connections. The user must provide adequate external
decoupling capacitors.
Note:
These designations are package-dependent. Some packages connect all GND inputs except GND
P
and
GND
1P
to each other internally. On those packages, all power input, except GND
P
and GND
1P
, are labeled
GND. The number of connections indicated in this table are minimum values; the total GND connections
are package-dependent.
