Chapter 3 RFID Preferences
You can program the digital scanner to perform various functions, or activate different features. This chapter
describes RFID preference features and provides programming bar codes for selecting these features. To program
other features, refer to the
Symbol DS9808 Product Reference Guide.
The digital scanner ships with the settings in
RFID Preferences Parameter Defaults on page 3-2
. If the default
values suit requirements, programming is not necessary.
To set feature values, scan a single bar code or a short bar code sequence. The settings are stored in non-volatile
memory and are preserved even when you power down the digital scanner.
If not using a USB cable, select a host type after the power-up beeps sound. Refer to the
Symbol DS9808 Product
Reference Guide
for specific host information. This is only necessary upon the first power-up when connecting to a
new host.
To return all features to default values, scan the
Set Default
parameter in the
Symbol DS9808 Product Reference
Guide
. Throughout the programming bar code menus, asterisks (
*
) indicate default values.
NOTE
The RFID module is not available in all countries. Contact a Motorola sales representative for more
information.
NOTE
Most computer monitors allow scanning the bar codes directly on the screen. When scanning from the
screen, be sure to set the document magnification to a level where you can see the bar code clearly, and
bars and/or spaces are not merging.
