Troubleshooting
Failure
Possible cause
Remedy
The motor is not
running
Power supply failure
Check the circuit breaker.
Defective power supply cable
Check the cable (ask an electrician).
The upper part of the casing is not
properly closed (the safety switch
has been activated).
Properly close and screw down the upper part of
the casing, respectively remove any dirt.
Unlocked collecting bin (the safety
switch has been activated).
Lock the collecting bin.
The motor hums but
does not run
Blocked knife
Switch off the machine and unplug the power
supply cable from the socket.
Clean the inside of the machine.
Defective capacitor
Have the machine repaired, contact the manu
facturer.
Reduced cutting
capacity
One of the knife cutting edges is
blunt.
− Turn the knife and use the opposite cutting
edge.
− Use a new set of knives.
The machine starts.
However, the protecti
ng switch turns off the
motor at low loading.
Too long an extension cable or
too small wire crosssection. The
socket is located too far from the
mains and small wire crosssection.
Use an extension cable with 1.5 mm
2
crosssec
tion for max. 25 m, or 2.5 mm
2
for a longer cable.
(for example H07RNF)
• Before performing any maintenance, do the
following:
− Switch off the motor and unplug the power supply
cable from the socket.
− Wear protective gloves to avoid injury.
Warning! Danger of injury by dangerous moving parts.
After switching off the machine, the cutting mechanism
still can move due to runout. Therefore, wait until the
cutting mechanism completely stops before starting
any maintenance or repairs.
Make sure the tools used during repair or mainte-
nance are removed once the work has finished.
• The garden chipper does not require special main-
tenance. To ensure it stays in good condition and
has a long service life, perform the following:
Maintenance and Care
Reduced Cutting Capacity
Spare parts
One of the knife cutting edges is blunt:
Turn the knife and use the opposite cutting edge.
All the knife cutting edges are blunt:
Use a new set of knives (part no. 382425).
Spare parts and Service are provided by the service
centres Mountfield.
− Keep the ventilation openings free and clean.
− Check the attaching screws (tighten if necessary).
− Once chipping has finished, clean the machine
(outside and inside).
− To clean the machine, use either a damp cloth or
soft brush.
− Never use chemical agents or thinners. These can
cause irreparable damage to the machine. These
agents can damage plastics.
− The chipper must not be cleaned using a high
pressure cleaning machine.
− Protect the bare metal parts from corrosion using
environmentallyfriendly and biologically degradable
oil.
