Compressor
1.
Remove the nut and remove the cover from the compressor.
2. Compressor
Motor
Disconnect the terminals: C, R and S from the compressor motor and check resistance across
the terminals: Between terminals at 68 °F (20 °C)
- R-C Approx. 0.7 ohm
- C-S Approx. 2.2 ohm
- S-R Approx. 2.9 ohm
If the measured resistance is not equal to these standard values, replace the compressor.
3. Overload
Relay
Check for continuity across the two terminals of the overload relay. At normal temperature,
there should be continuity across the terminals.
Operating temperature:
- OFF (Open): 284 °F (140 °C)
- ON (Closed): 165 °F (74 °C)
If there is no continuity across the terminals, replace the overload relay.
