Software Options
NOTE:
The following software options utilize the Expanded Memory
Cartridge (EMC) technology. Each of these software options are
shipped preloaded, on their own individual EMC.
CAUTION
You must power off the printer before you install or remove the EMC, or
you may damage the EMC and the printer. If you remove the EMC after
powering on the printer with the EMC installed, the fault message
"MEMORY REMOVED Check EMC" will display. You cannot clear this
message by reinserting the EMC. You must cycle power.
DBCS Character Sets and Fonts
Optional Asian Double Byte Character Set (DBCS) language cartridges can
be ordered. Each cartridge contains one Asian DBCS character set and font,
supporting Simplified Chinese, Korean, or Japanese, as well as user
addressable memory area to expand the printer flash memory capacity.
Andalé Fonts
The optional Andalé font is a TrueType
®
scalable font containing characters
for virtually all languages used in the world today, such as Chinese,
Japanese, and Korean. Four different versions of the font are available for
purchase. Each of the four versions contains all of the same characters. The
files differ in that a few of the characters are customized for certain regions of
the world. Use UTF-8 encoded Unicode (recommended) or the 256 character
multinational character sets to address the font in PGL and ZGL. With the
ZGL emulation, it is also possible to use the Andalé font with downloaded
character sets. Only one version of the Andalé font will be present on the
cartridge. For the font to be used, the cartridge must be installed at power-up.
The font will be listed on the configuration printout under Features Enabled
(only one font will be present).
Korean Andale, Ver 1.00A
Traditional Chinese Andale, Ver 1.00A
Simplified Chinese Andale, Ver 1.00A
Japanese Andale, Ver 1.00A
The font name and size will be listed on the configuration printout of the file
system, under the EMC FFS file list.
