6.8 Connecting motor-drive unit
NOTICE
Damage to the connecting cable!
Damage to the connecting cable due to impermissibly small bend radiuses
and kinks.
► When routing the connection cable, observe the minimum bend radiuses:
min. 51 mm for fixed routing, min. 170 mm if moved occasionally.
► When routing the connection cable, make sure that the maximum permit-
ted cable jacket temperature of 80 °C is not exceeded during operation.
You may only connect the control cabinet to circuits with an external over-
current protection device and an isolating device with all poles disconnected
so the equipment can be fully de-energized if required (service, maintenance
etc.).
Suitable equipment includes isolating devices in accordance with
IEC 60947-1 and IEC 60947-3 (e.g. circuit breakers). Observe the properties
of the relevant circuits (voltage, maximum currents) when selecting the cir-
cuit breaker type. In addition, observe the following:
▪ It must be easy for the operator to access the isolating device
▪ The isolating device must be labeled for the device and circuits to be iso-
lated
▪ The isolating device may not be a part of the power line
▪ The isolating device may not interrupt the main protective conductor
You must connect the power supply circuit with a conductor cross-section of
at least 2.5 mm
2
(AWG 13) and protect it with a miniature circuit breaker. Se-
lect the miniature circuit breaker based on the product's electrical power data
(voltage and current, see nameplate) and the internal wiring's conductor
cross-sections (see connection diagram).
▪ Max. 10 A at 0.75 mm²
▪ Max. 16 A at 1.5...2.5 mm²
You have to connect the motor-drive unit to an uninterruptible power supply
to be able to switch the on-load tap-changer if the power supply fails.
To connect the motor-drive unit proceed as follows:
ü
The control cabinet is installed at the desired location.
ü
Use only the specified cables for wiring. Note cable recommendation
[
1. Remove and dispose of the transport protective cap for the plug connector
of the gear motor.
