Reconnect the height adjuster link. Tighten the
screw to a torque of 45-50 in-lbs. (4-5 Nm).
See Figure 4.32.

Reinstall the wheels.
NOTE:
Apply a small amount of a dry lubricant such as
graphite or PTFE (Tefflon®) to the axle shaft
before sliding the wheel on.
NOTE:
Apply a small amount of releasable thread locking
compound such as Loctite® 242 (blue) to the lock
nut or replace it with a new one.

Tighten the wheel nuts to a torque of 80-100 in-lbs.
(9-11 Nm).
18.
Test run the mower in a safe area and check all of
the safety features before returning it to service. Do
not put an unsafe mower into service.
Front Axle Cover
NOTE:
The front axle cover is the plastic structure
attached to the front of the mower deck. The front
axle mounts to it.
1. Remove the front wheels and axle as described previ-
ously in this chapter.
2.
Remove the 5 screws that hold the front axle cover to
the mower deck using a 1/2” wrench or a T-40 Torx
driver. See Figure 4.33.
3.
Install the replacement front axle cover by reversing
the steps used to remove it.
NOTE:
Tighten the screws that hold the front axle cover to
to the mower deck to 30-40 in-lbs (3.5-4.5 Nm).
4.
Test run the mower in a safe area and check all of
the safety features before returning it to service. Do
not put an unsafe mower into service.
