Diagram for 12V (two crank-
shaft positions)
Checking valve clearance at two crankshaft positions
1.
Check TDC position of piston in cylinder A1:
• The piston is at firing TDC when the rocker arms at cylinder A1 are unloaded.
• The piston is at overlap TDC when the rocker arms at cylinder A1 are loaded.
2.
Check valve clearance with cold engine:
• Inlet = 0.3 ±0.05 mm;
• Exhaust = 0.6 ±0.05 mm.
3.
Check all valve clearances in both crankshaft positions (firing TDC and overlap TDC at cylinder A1) in accord-
ance with the diagram:
1 Cylinder A1 is in firing TDC
2 Cylinder A1 is in overlap TDC
I Inlet valve
X Exhaust valve
4.
Use feeler gage to determine the distance between valve bridge and rocker arm.
5.
Adjust valve clearance if the deviation from the reference value exceeds 0.1 mm.
Adjusting valve clearance
1.
Loosen locknut (1) and unscrew adjusting
screw (2) by a few threads.
2.
Insert feeler gage between valve bridge and
rocker arm (3).
Note:
Replace or rectify adjusting screws and/or
locknuts which do not move freely.
3.
Using Allen key, set adjusting screw (2) so
that the specified valve clearance is provided.
Note:
Feeler gage must just pass through the gap.
4.
Pass feeler gage (3) between valve bridge
and rocker arm.
